Base, Coinbase's layer-2 network, has set a new record for daily transactions, surpassing its previous high since its launch in August, according to information obtained from BaseScan, a blockchain explorer.
As of September 14th, the layer-2 blockchain achieved a new record of 1.88 million transactions, surpassing its previous high of 1.41 million on August 21st, which was also the month of its launch. This blockchain network has outperformed its competitors like Optimism and Arbitrum, who only had a combined total of 878,000 transactions for the day.
Even though the layer-2 network has achieved a significant milestone, it is still not as advanced as other blockchains such as Polygon and BNB Smart Chain (BSC). On the day in question, Polygon had 2.1 million transactions, while BSC had a whopping 3.1 million transactions.
On August 21, the blockchain had set a transaction record with 136,000 daily active users. However, on September 14, the layer-2 network had fewer users, with only around 86,000 daily active users according to data from Dune Analytics.
On August 9th, Base was introduced to the public, providing users with the ability to swap tokens, bridge tokens, and add liquidity. Additionally, users can now create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and perform a wide range of other activities that were previously limited to layer-2 networks.
Ever since its introduction, the crypto community has shown great enthusiasm for the network. On September 6th, more than 268,000 unique wallets minted over 700,000 NFTs on the layer-2 network. In the first two weeks of its launch, the platform saw over $242 million worth of crypto assets bridged to the blockchain, with a daily usage of 130,000 unique wallets.
